Allie VanHyfte
Departed for Ecuador on May 11, 2009.
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Allie and I am a freshman in Communications at Purdue University. This year I have been blessed in so many ways. One way in particular is having the chance to go on a mission trip to Ecuador through my church here on campus. This is my first mission trip domestically and internationally, so I am very excited!!
My Trip
My team, consisting of 10 students and 2 leaders, will be traveling to a villiage in the southern part of Ecuador (May 11th-25th). Our team will be exposed to the reality of that area of the world, whatever it may be. We will be working with an organization called OMS International and we will have the chance to work in community development, which includes working in a medical center, a guinea pig farm, radio station, or an educational center. OMS is a faith based organization that started working in Ecuador in 1952. They have started planting house churches that are rapidly growing throughout the country. These movements create a system of churches that are less dependent on foreign funds and provide the stability they need.
Support
Already I have been preparing myself for this trip through constant prayer, receiving my passport, and getting all the required shots. No matter how much I want this trip to be free, it's not. The trip to Ecuador will cost each team member $2000. I have already received about 60% through donations. In addition to spiritual support, I ask that you consider supporting me financially, any contribution no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate through credit card on this website, click "donate here" below my picture. If you would like to send a check, please send it to 1000 W. State Street in West lafayette, IN and make it payable to Purdue Christian Camous house. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email. Thank you!
