About Me

As you probably already know, helping people especially the less fortunate is something that I think very highly of and try to do when ever possible. I have had the opportunity to work with people in many different way, including going on a mission trip to Jamaica to help at children’s homes, volunteering at the Nazrethian Home (a church ran foster home), and being the staff resident at Shreve Hall.

My Trip

In Haiti, environmental degradation and overpopulation combined create unbearable conditions for many in the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. Haiti experiences unemployment of over 70% and the average wage of those lucky enough to find employment is the equivalent of approximately US $150.00 per year. Because of the despair in this country I feel a calling help these people in any way I can. On this trip we plan to volunteer at homes for children, help install concrete floors in homes around Baudin, bring basic medical supplies to local residents, celebrate Haitian Independence Day with the locals, and spend time with the residents letting them know we care.

There are many things that I must do to prepare for this trip. Some of these things include studying the culture, receiving necessary vaccinations, team bonding, and finding support for my trip. I am the head of the fund raising committee for this trip. We are raising money raking leave on Saturday mornings for local homes.

Support

I want people and myself to realize that as little as $10 US will go a long way in a place like this! I will continue to raise funds and to give what I can financially to help these people. Now back in the states, our group will continue to raise funds to install 21 more floors. These floors will make a significant difference in these family’s lives. The floors will help prevent children (most of who sleep on the floor) from getting diseases and parasites and it will also help to promote cleanliness. We did not physically put in the foundations our self as this would not be beneficial to their economy. If you continue to donate to this cause the money will go directy to the people of Haiti. I also ask that you continue to keep the people of Haiti in your prayers… they need all the help they can get.
